Tambov, 27 November 2025 – Х5 (“X5”, MOEX: X5), a leading Russian food retailer, announces the launch of a new distribution centre (DC) for its Pyaterochka proximity store chain in the Tambov Region. The opening ceremony was attended by Evgeny Pervyshov, Governor of the Tambov Region; Vasily Pushkin, Director for Regional Government Relations at X5; and Stanislav Sheinskii, Executive Director of the Southern Territory at Pyaterochka.
Spanning approximately 34,000 sq m, the new logistics centre will supply around 500 stores across the Lipetsk and Tambov regions. It features dedicated zones for storing dry groceries, fruit and vegetables, chocolate, chilled and frozen products, as well as alcohol. The facility is equipped with multi-temperature chambers that use carbon dioxide (CO2) as a refrigerant, ensuring that cooling takes place via a natural, environmentally safe, non-toxic, non-flammable and highly efficient approach.
The DC has a daily throughput capacity of 2,000 pallets and can stock an assortment of over 6,000 SKUs. More than 600 retail chain partners, including local suppliers, already deliver goods to the facility, whose seamless operations are supported by 300 employees and over 150 units of specialised equipment.
“Earlier, products were delivered to the Tambov Region from a distribution centre in Ryazan. The new logistics hub in Tambov will streamline the supply chain both for the Tambov and the neighbouring Lipetsk regions, enhancing product quality and availability for end consumers. In addition, it will attract new local suppliers, making it faster and easier for them to get their goods on our shelves. A project of this scale also means new job opportunities: the centre already employs a workforce of 300 people, which is expected to expand to 500 people when it reaches full capacity in January 2026,” said Stanislav Sheinskii, Executive Director of the Southern Territory at Pyaterochka.
