X5 develops in-house restocking system for its Pyaterochka and Perekrestok retail chains

Moscow, 7 August 2025 – X5 Group (MOEX: X5), a leading Russian food retailer, has developed and launched a phased rollout of its own restocking system for its Pyaterochka and Perekrestok retail chains. The Company previously sourced this type of software from a foreign vendor and had limited opportunities for managing and refining the system. At present, X5 is migrating to an internal technology platform that provides full control over key logistics processes and makes them more efficient. The system’s scale and complexity highlight the advanced level of X5’s technological expertise and the Company’s ability to create strategically important digital solutions in-house.

The restocking system fully automates the supply management process, minimising human involvement and accelerating decision-making, as well as enabling a prompt response to changes in demand to avoid supply disruptions. The system calculates the optimal quantity of stock on shelves based on demand, seasonality and available logistics, and reduces losses from expired inventory thanks to automated shelf life monitoring.

X5’s restocking system is powered by a modern tech stack that is able to carry out large-scale and complex calculations, as well as leveraging AI, optimisation algorithms and machine learning models.

The new restocking system currently supports direct supplies to stores across the entire footprint of the Pyaterochka and Perekrestok retail chains, including in the Far Eastern Federal District. Before the end of Q1 2026, the Company expects to connect all the stores of both retail networks — some 25,000 stores in total — to the new restocking solution through X5’s distribution centres (DCs) and warehouses, including complex multi-tier supply chains.

“The development of our in-house restocking system is a strategic step that enables the Company to gain full control over key technologies and processes and ensure their transparency. Today, we no longer feel the pressure of external constraints and are ready to scale up our best practices to achieve effective business growth, quickly integrate new stores with the system and adapt to market changes,” said Alexander Kostin, Managing Director of X5 Tech.
