X5 opens joint Distribution Centre for two of its retail chains in Siberia

Kemerovo, 6 November 2025 – Х5 (“X5”, MOEX: “X5”), a leading Russian food retailer, announces the opening of a joint distribution centre (DC) in the Kemerovo Region in Siberia. The facility will serve two X5 retail chains simultaneously – the Chizhik hard discounter and the Pyaterochka proximity store – supplying over 400 stores across the Kemerovo and Tomsk Regions.

Spanning 45,000 sq m, the joint DC is divided into sections for storing dry groceries, fruit and vegetables, chilled and frozen products, as well as alcohol. The site also includes office and staff spaces. The facility can handle up to 240,000 pallets per day and has more than 31,000 storage locations for goods, with the capacity to accommodate more than 8,000 SKUs. Over 500 retail chain partners are already supplying goods to the DC, including local suppliers. For the latter, the opening of the new facility enables them to expand distribution into neighbouring regions without increasing their logistics costs.

The centre’s uninterrupted operation relies on 465 people – 153 engaged in warehousing operations for the Chizhik division and 312 for Pyaterochka – as well as over 250 units of specialised equipment. A vehicle fleet operating division was also launched alongside the DC, with 98 vehicles and 200 employees set to handle all deliveries from the facility.

The DC features modern equipment and automated solutions, including innovative refrigeration appliances that use carbon dioxide as a refrigerant, substantially reducing harmful emissions into the air, as well as the Nexus warehouse process management system developed in-house by X5.

“Our new joint distribution centre is an excellent example of synergies between X5’s businesses, where efficient resource use and cost optimisation enable us to grow and adapt swiftly. A collaborative approach to building logistics infrastructure gives us greater opportunities to invest in product quality and availability for the end consumer. This is especially important in Siberia, where logistics has traditionally presented a complex challenge due to remoteness and climatic conditions. The East is a strategic development focus for Pyaterochka, and the launch of this new logistics centre represents an important step in strengthening our market position. It is also undoubtedly an incentive for developing trade and further unlocking the social and economic potential of the Kemerovo, Tomsk, and neighbouring regions, such as Khakassia, which will benefit from shipments from the new DC going forward,” said Anton Astafyev, Executive Director of Pyaterochka’s Eastern territory.

“The new distribution centre is a strategic facility that will drive the growth of trade in the Kemerovo and Tomsk Regions. This new logistics hub will allow us to continue optimising supply chains and accelerate the delivery of goods to Chizhik stores, enabling us to offer customers quality, fresh products at competitive prices,” stated Nikolay Shekeryuk, Head of Chizhik’s Kemerovo Region Operations.
