X5 opens 7,777th store in Russia

Ukhta, 24 June 2016

X5 Retail Group, a leading Russian food retailer, announces the opening of its 7,777th store in Russia. This latest milestone store is a Pyaterochka in Ukhta (34 Oktyabrskaya St.), a new city for X5 Retail Group.

The new store fully adheres to the new Pyaterochka concept launched in October 2013. To date, the chain has upgraded and rebranded over 5,500 (more than 80%) of its stores in 53 regions.

This milestone store offers 4,600 SKUs, over 50% of which make up the fresh assortment (fruits, vegetables, meat, fish and dairy products). There are six checkout lanes for a smooth shopping experience.

Almost simultaneously with the milestone opening, another three Pyaterochka stores started operating in Ukhta.

Pyaterochka is fostering cooperation with local suppliers from the Komi Republic, where the chain opened its first store in September last year. In less than a year, the share of locally-produced items has reached 90% in selected categories. For the convenience of customers, these items are marked by special eye stoppers saying Made in the Komi Republic.

Last year, Pyaterochka added about 50 local suppliers to its portfolio, expanding the product mix in six regions of the Volgo-Vyatsky division (Nizhny Novgorod and Kirov Regions, the Chuvash and Komi Republics, the Republics of Mordovia and Mari El).

The Komi Republic is now home to 35 Pyaterochka stores, with 30 of them in Syktyvkar. The retail chain has created ca. 600 jobs in the region.

In 2016, Pyaterochka plans to open around 30 more stores in the Komi Republic.
