Moscow, 5 November 2025 – The Chizhik hard discounter chain today announces the opening of its 3,000th store. The milestone store is located at 2a Molodtsova Street in Moscow and is the 172nd store in the city. This follows the chain’s celebration, in October 2025, of the five-year anniversary since the opening of the first Chizhik store.
Chizhik positions itself as the flagship format for smart shopping, where customers can buy high-quality products at low prices. The chain spans 45 regions of Russia, serving over one million customers every day and tallying more than 1.3 billion purchases over its five-year history. According to INFOline, Chizhik was the leading hard discounter in Russia in the first half of 2025, cementing its status as the country’s fastest-growing retail chain.
Chizhik’s distinct identity is built on a carefully curated product range and a steadfast commitment to quality. Each store stocks approximately 1,000 of the most popular essential items, and over half of this assortment comes from brands exclusive to the chain. Product selection involves numerous taste tests and inspections in independent laboratories. Even after an item reaches the shelf, the chain maintains continuous quality control – informed, among other things, by customer feedback. All suppliers undergo a rigorous audit to verify that ingredients match the recipe, comply with state safety and quality standards, and are correctly labelled. Chizhik strictly prohibits harmful additives, GMOs, and soy in its products. Each Chizhik store also features a unique promotional zone called Nado Uspet (“Catch the Price”), showcasing a rotating selection of goods for the home, kitchen, garden, and children. These items change weekly and are consistently in high demand.
“Just a few days ago, we celebrated five years since the opening of our first store, and today we are marking another major achievement: our 3,000th store. Chizhik is the go-to destination for smart shopping, designed for those who want to save money and time without compromising on quality. Thanks to a business model focused on constant cost optimisation, we are able to offer low prices while maintaining high product quality standards – a combination that secures our customers’ loyalty. We are pursuing the most ambitious development goals for our chain, aiming to make quality products accessible to the majority of people across Russia,” said Ilya Yakubson, Managing Director of Chizhik.
Chizhik launched in 2020 with the goal of offering the best value for money on the market. According to external market research, Chizhik’s customer loyalty metrics are rising thanks to consumer satisfaction with the retail chain’s price points and its high-quality product offering, and Chizhik outperforms most retail chains when it comes to perceived value.
