Surgut, 30 June 2025 – X5 (“X5”, MOEX: X5), a leading Russian food retailer, has opened its first distribution centre (DC) in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area – Yugra. Located in Surgut, the DC will service over 280 Pyaterochka stores in the Khanty-Mansi and Yamal-Nenets autonomous areas. The opening ceremony was attended by Sergey Afanasyev, Deputy Governor and Director of the Department of Economic Development of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area – Yugra, and Anton Astafyev, Executive Director of Pyaterochka’s Eastern territory.
The DC, with a total area of 19,000 sqm, is divided into various sections for storing groceries, fruits and vegetables, chilled and frozen products, as well as alcoholic beverages. The daily throughput capacity of the facility reaches 780 tonnes of cargo. The centre has more than 20,000 storage locations for more than 4,800 SKUs. The seamless operation of the DC will be ensured by more than 450 employees and some 45 vehicles. Over 270 retail chain partners already supply goods to the new DC.
“The inauguration of the first distribution centre in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area is an important milestone in expanding Pyaterochka’s logistics infrastructure, which will reduce the load on other DCs and speed up product delivery to stores across the region. The nearest DC, which used to supply goods to the chain’s stores, is in Yekaterinburg, about 900 km from Surgut. The new distribution centre will both facilitate the logistics of the city’s stores and help open new locations in neighbouring regions,” said Anton Astafyev, Executive Director of Pyaterochka’s Eastern territory.
With the first Pyaterochka store opened in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area in 2012, the chain now boasts more than 212 locations across the region.
